Is it safe to let AI apply to jobs for me?
Is it safe to let AI apply to jobs for me? It can be, if you see every application before it is sent and your data stays under your control. The main risks are wrong or invented answers sent under your name, duplicate applications, broken site rules, and your resume on someone else's server.
The risks
The risks, plainly
Auto-apply sounds like free time. Here is what can go wrong when nobody reads the application first.
Wrong or invented answers under your name
AI filling a form has to guess when it doesn't know. It may claim a skill you lack, get work authorization wrong, or name a salary you never chose. Once sent, the employer has it on record.
Duplicate applications
A tool that retries, or can't tell whether a submit worked, may apply twice. The employer then sees two applications from you for one role.
Breaking a job board's terms
LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter need you signed in, and their terms forbid automated applications. A tool that applies there puts your account at risk.
Your resume on third-party servers
A hosted service keeps your resume, contact details and answers, and may share them with other companies. Ask where they are stored, who handles them, and how you delete them.
Sensitive questions answered for you
Forms ask about gender, race, disability and veteran status. Those answers are yours to give or withhold, and no tool should guess them.
Checklist
Is it safe to let AI apply to jobs for me? A checklist
Before you let any tool apply for you, check that it does these things.
- Shows you every application, filled, before it goes.
- Marks which answers it wrote for you, and waits for you to approve them.
- Leaves demographic and consent questions to you.
- Stops at CAPTCHAs and sign-ins instead of working around them.
- Tells you when it isn't sure a submit went through.
- Keeps a record of what was sent, that you can read later.
- Says exactly where your data is stored.
Our safeguards
How Hirabo handles each risk
We built it to pass that checklist. Here is what you get.
| Risk | Safeguard |
|---|---|
| Sending without you | Nothing is sent until you press Submit. The app asks you to confirm first, because sending can't be undone. |
| Drafted answers sent unread | Every answer it wrote for you is marked for review. You can't send until you keep or edit each one. |
| Invented facts | Written answers use only facts from your resume and stay short. A half-finished draft is thrown away, never sent. |
| Sensitive questions | Demographic and consent questions are left blank for you, unless you gave the exact answer in your profile. |
| CAPTCHAs and logins | It stops at a CAPTCHA, sign-in page or bot check and hands you the link. It never tries to get past one. |
| Missing answers | It won't send while any required question is blank, and it tells you which ones. |
| Duplicates | If Submit is pressed but the site shows no confirmation, it tells you. Check your email before trying again. |
| No record | Each application comes with a screenshot of the filled form and a record of every answer. |
| Job board terms | It won't apply on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor or ZipRecruiter. |
Your data
Where your data goes
Your resumes, jobs, drafts and answers are saved in your own browser. When you run a step, Hirabo processes your resume on its servers to do that step, and nothing more.
It reaches out to other sites only to do the job you asked for: searching job boards, reading company pages to find the right contact, and opening the employer's form when you apply. The privacy page lists each one and what it receives.
Your part
What stays your job
Even with every safeguard in place, a few things are worth doing yourself.
Read before you send
Look over the filled form and the screenshot before you press Submit.
Mark jobs as applied
So you don't send a second application by hand.
Check the posting is real
Be wary of any job that asks for money or bank details up front.
Finish the tricky ones
Where a board adds a hidden CAPTCHA, paste the filled answers and send it yourself.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can using an auto-apply bot get my LinkedIn account in trouble?
LinkedIn's terms forbid automated applications, so using a bot there puts your account at risk. Hirabo won't apply on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor or ZipRecruiter for that reason.
What happens if Submit is pressed and nothing confirms it?
You are told the application may not have gone through. Check your email or the company's site before you apply again, so you don't send a duplicate.
Does my resume leave my computer?
Your saved resumes and jobs live in your own browser. Hirabo processes your resume on its servers to do each step you ask for. It goes to an employer only when you apply there, and searching sends job sites a query such as a job title, not your resume.
Will the AI answer EEO questions for me?
Only with the exact option you gave in your profile. Otherwise gender, race, veteran, disability and similar questions are left blank for you to answer.
