Workday job application tips, and where our agent stops

Most Workday job application tips come down to preparation: one account per employer, a simple resume, and your work history ready to paste. Hirabo won't sign in for you. When Workday asks you to sign in or create an account, which it usually does, the agent stops and hands you the link.

What to expect

What happens with a Workday job

Workday is an applicant tracking system used by many large employers. Most of them want an account before the form.

  1. Paste the job

Add the Workday job link, just as you would for any other job.

  2. It finds the form

Hirabo opens the job and follows its Apply button, as on any company career site.

  3. It stops at sign-in

When Workday asks you to sign in or create an account, it stops before filling anything and gives you the link.

It never creates accounts or types passwords, and it can't use your own sign-ins. If a Workday site lets you apply without an account, Hirabo fills it like any other career site form, one page at a time.

Get ready first

What still saves you time on a Workday job

The form is yours to fill, but the slow parts before it are not.

  • A match score that shows how well your resume fits, with the reasons
  • A resume tailored for this job, ready to copy or download
  • The posting's keywords your resume lacks. You tick only the true ones
  • A cover letter written from your resume, ready to paste
  • A short email to the recruiter and hiring manager. Nothing is sent

Open the Workday link in your own browser with those ready, and the form becomes mostly copying and checking.

Tailoring a resume for one job: the keywords the posting asks for, the ones the applicant confirmed, and a before and after score

Practical tips

Workday job application tips that save real time

Suggestions for anyone applying through Workday, with or without an AI helper.

  1. Expect one account per employer

Each company runs its own Workday career site, so an account at one doesn't sign you in at another. Use the same email each time and keep the passwords in a password manager.

  2. Check every field the resume upload fills

Many Workday sites offer to fill the form from your resume. Read each job entry afterwards: dates, titles and employers can land in the wrong boxes.

  3. Use a plain, single-column resume file

Tables, text boxes and columns make any resume harder to read automatically. Keep the designed version for people.

  4. Keep your history in plain text

For each role, note the employer, title, start and end month, location and three or four lines of work. Workday forms often ask for each role separately, and pasting is faster than retyping.

  5. Prepare the standard answers

Work authorization, sponsorship, notice period, salary expectation and how you heard about the job come up on most forms.

  6. Write long answers elsewhere first

Draft them in a text file and paste them in, so a closed tab or an expired session doesn't cost you the text.

  7. Read the voluntary disclosures carefully

On US forms, self-identification questions are optional, and declining to answer is usually one of the choices.

  8. Note the job requisition number

Postings usually show one. It helps you avoid applying twice to the same role and makes follow-up emails specific.

  9. Check your status in the same place

You can usually see where an application stands by signing back in to that employer's Workday site.

Our line

Why it doesn't sign in for you

Signing in would mean holding your password for every employer, or creating accounts in your name. We don't do either.

No passwords held

Your Workday passwords stay with you and your password manager.

No accounts in your name

Every account is one you made yourself.

Every application seen

Each Workday application you send is one you read first.

Same rule everywhere

CAPTCHAs and bot checks stop it too. It says why and gives you the link.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can this agent fill out Workday applications?

Usually not. Workday asks you to sign in or create an account before the form, and it stops at that step. It never signs in or creates accounts. It can still find the job, tailor your resume and write the cover letter.

Why do I need a new Workday account for every company?

Each employer runs its own Workday career site with its own accounts. An account made for one company doesn't carry over to another.

What happens when it stops?

Nothing is sent. Hirabo tells you why it stopped, such as a sign-in page, a CAPTCHA or a required question only you can answer, and gives you the link to finish yourself.
